Songdreamer has a dream
“I’ve been singing for what seems like forever” Leslie said. “It was around the age of 10 when I really started to develop and notice my talent of singing.”
She has a love for all types of music but is specifically interested in neo-soul.
“I am a neo-soul singer with a hint of Jazz,” Leslie said. “I am a strong believer in shattering glass ceilings and I constantly live outside of the box. I am a free styling off the top of the morning singer and my thoughts are deeper than the lowest point of the earth.”
She thinks of singing and writing as a lyrical diary.
“It is my inner most thoughts and it is such an mental escape for me,” Leslie said.
Leslie has a five-year-old son and he motivates her music dream.
“My son is one of the main reasons I want to make it in the music industry,” Leslie said. “He keeps me going and motivates me to the fullest, besides my love for music he is the reason I do this.”
Her road to success has not been easy. Although she is not signed with any music label, she is taking steps to get there. She puts herself out there to the world to show off her talent with hopes of being recognized and becoming some one famous in the music industry.
“I really want to get discovered,” Leslie said. “I know it is hard and there is a lot of competition out there but I think that if the right person were to hear me then something will happen. I just always hope for the best.”
A couple years ago she met an aspiring producer and rap artist Tim Leak.
“I met Songdreamer through our friend Pharaoh,” Tim said. “Once I heard her voice I was literally blown away. He would tell me about her but I didn’t think much of it until I actually met her and heard her sing. I think she has a very unique voice and is a great song writer.”
They have worked together and she has been featured in some of his songs.
“I asked her to sing on one of my songs,” Tim said. “Now she always comes to my studio and we record songs.”
Them working together has been a great experience for the both of them.
“I will work with whoever is willing to collaborate with me as long as I can feel the connection of musical energy and the vibe is pushing me,” Leslie said. “Working with Tim has been amazing. I think he is talented and has a lot to offer to the music industry. I think our song will bring the both of us a step closer to success.”
Pharaoh, who is also in the music industry thinks highly of Leslie.
“She is very talented,” Pharaoh said. “When I first heart her sing she surprised me. I told Tim because I wanted to get her in the studio right a way.”
Leslie is eager and willing to do whatever when it comes to music. Her love for music has no boundaries.
“I am not signed and there is no border line when it comes to genres of music I will work on,” Leslie said. “I like to try new things, experimentation is exhilaration and I want to excel and succeed.”
Her friend and aspiring rapper, Terrell also known as Sleep, has also worked with her and thinks she has a gift of singing.
“We have two different styles of music but we have been in the studio together and played around,” Sleep said. “I would freestyle something then she would sing and back it up. She definitely has a gift, her voice is one of a kind and I look forward to actually doing a song with her some time in the future.”
Leslie has a “dream bigger than her bubble” and she hopes to fulfill that dream one day.
“I hope to accomplish my goal in singing and go a long way in the music industry,” Leslie said. “I know it will be a challenge but I’m ready for it all because I love to sing and write so much.”
